For more than 150 years, the corner of Lygon 
and Faraday Streets has welcomed the 
people of Carlton.

Since first opening in 1871, the building has evolved alongside the neighbourhood itself, becoming one of Melbourne's most enduring Italian institutions under the stewardship of the Valmorbida family. For decades it was home to the King & Godfree deli, where locals came for wine, salumi, cheese and the ingredients that shaped everyday life.

Rather than replacing that history, 
Delmonte continues it.

Named after the Delmonte wine label created by Carlo Valmorbida during the 1960s, the restaurant occupies the former deli, carrying forward a longstanding connection to food, wine and hospitality.

Today, Delmonte is an Italian wine room and restaurant built around the pleasure of eating and drinking at any pace — from an aperitivo at the bar to a long lunch, a celebration or an evening that unfolds naturally over another bottle of wine.

It is the next chapter in a story that has been part of Carlton for generations.
